Tumble

From the first-timer to the elite tumbler, Family Dream Center offers tumbling classes at all levels and for all ages. Our classes are broken into skill levels, and the level descriptions below will help you pick the best class for your tumbler!

Tumbling is the skill, practice, or sport of executing gymnastic feats (such as cartwheels and handsprings) without using an apparatus, or equipment.  To learn any tumbling skills and be able to perform them on a hard surface, such as a stage floor without any mats, a student must practice on surfaces that teach them to use their body weight and muscle. That is why there is a huge difference in the Gymnastics, Cheerleading, and Tumbling techniques. The body has to perform skills flatter and heavier on trampolines and spring floors (as they rely on the equipment to give their bodies the bounce and power they need to perform skills safely).

When using "dead mats" or "crash mats" to perform skills, the body has to perform taller and lighter to only rely on their body for power and jump. Learning skills on mixed surfaces ultimately confuse muscle memory, such as performing a back tuck on a trampoline and attempting to perform it on the ground. There is a greater risk of injury due to the difference in technique required for one skill on different surfaces and equipment.

Acrobatics and tumbling represent the natural progression and evolution of various gymnastics disciplines. Acrobatics originates from rhythmic gymnastics, a discipline that embraces the fusion of dance elements with intricate tricks, highlighting heightened flexibility and precise control. By incorporating graceful movements and flowing transitions, acrobatics adds an artistic flair to the athletic prowess of gymnastics.

On the other hand, tumbling finds its roots in floor gymnastics, where athletes perform a series of explosive and dynamic tricks. Using running power's momentum, tumblers execute gravity-defying combinations that showcase their remarkable strength and enduring stamina. This form of gymnastics emphasizes the raw power and agility of the human body, captivating audiences with its awe-inspiring displays of athleticism.

Together, acrobatics and tumbling bring a new dimension to the gymnastics world. By blending the gracefulness of dance with the explosive energy of tumbling, athletes can push the boundaries of what is possible, captivating spectators with their breathtaking performances. Whether it's the elegance and flexibility of acrobatics or the raw power and agility of tumbling, Family Dream Center offers classes that cater to all levels and ages, ensuring that every tumbler can unlock their full potential and achieve their dreams in this evolving discipline.
