DREAM Recital

DREAM Dance Recital

DREAM will have our 23-24 season recital on June 15th, 2024. The performance will be at Truett Auditorium at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. The auditorium is located about 25 minutes from the DREAM office. Show times will be announced closer to the date of the recital (show times are usually released at the end of March). There will be multiple shows throughout June 15th.  Please keep the entire day reserved for the performance until we have the schedule released. On June 15th, 2024 we will not have a dress rehearsal, it will only be the performance. All classes participate in the recital unless the class states "non- recital". All tumble classes and a few company-level technique classes will not participate in the recital. A detailed recital packet will be emailed in late March or early April with all of the information you will need to know about the recital day.

Billing:

Recital billing will be split into three payments throughout the season. The first payment will be on October 1st for $88, which will cover the dancers' first costume. You will be billed on December 1st for the 2nd costume for $88 for your dancer. The final payment of $180 will be billed on February 1st. This will cover the link to the recital video, the dancers' recital t-shirt, a show program, and the production costs. We do not sell tickets so you are welcome to bring anyone you would like to attend the recital. Recital fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Costume Distribution:

We will distribute the costumes as soon as they come in, so we can address any sizing issues. Costumes come in at various times and are contingent on shipping, availability, and when we order your dancers' costumes. For example, if your dancer joins the class after we have done our main order, your costume ship date will be at a later time. The majority of costumes are distributed February-April.  It is important for each dancer to have an adult representative during costume days, to help assist the dancer to ensure a proper fit and all accessories are with the costume. Parents are required to be present for a student to be sent home with their costume. If your child is absent during a costume day, please see the front desk to try on your dancer's costume and sign off on it.

In-House Dress Rehearsal:

Our in-house (at the Family DREAM Center) dress rehearsal will be May 28th- June 3rd. It is important to have your dancer at dress rehearsal. Dress Rehearsal at DREAM will be either a 30-45 minute slot and with full costume, hair, and make-up. Parents will need to stay during their child's rehearsal to help assist with costumes and we will go over the details of the show. Your child's dress rehearsal will be on the same day they dance, but will not be at the same time. We will have a modified schedule that week, this schedule will be in the recital document that we email. Dancers will need to come dressed in their first costume with full hair and makeup. We will have a photographer here to take and order optional pictures if you would like.

Hair :

Please place the hair accessory piece as seen in the picture of the costume (make sure the hairpiece is worn the same way by all kids in the dance).  Hairpieces do tend to fall out, please secure them well!  All dances (with only a few exceptions—talk to your child’s teacher) will wear a clean slicked-back bun following the line of the cheekbones with the hair piece placed as the costume picture shows.  Use lots of hairspray and gel!  If a child's hair is too short for a bun- wear half up and half down or a ponytail.

Make-up:

Makeup for the recital is bright red lipstick, bright pink blush for cheeks, neutral eye shadow, black or brown eyeliner, and mascara. Dancers are not required to wear makeup, BUT you SHOULD wear makeup.  The stage lights are intense and you WILL NOT see your child’s face from the audience without makeup.   The more makeup the dancer wears, the better you can see their face.  From the stage, it does not look like they have makeup on.

No extra hair accessories or jewelry is allowed.  Company kids can wear their earrings for their company dances.  Please no fingernail polish unless it is clear polish.

Tights:

All dancers will be given a pair of performance tights to wear for the recital with the distribution of their costumes. DO NOT wear underwear with the tights.  You will see underwear with the costume.

Shoes:

Please confirm with your child's teacher what style of shoes should be worn with each costume. Ballet, tap, jazz, foot lyrical undies, or hip hop shoes, etc.  All ballet shoes should be light pink, all tap shoes will be black, jazz shoe colors will be given out closer to the recital to match the costume, and foot lyrical turners should be nude color.  All hip hop classes wear a Converse, tennis shoes, hip hop boot that coordinates with their costume.  They do not need to all be the same in the Hip Hop classes.  Family Dream Center NOW sells ballet, tap, jazz, Hip Hop shoes, and foot lyrical undies.  Please see the front desk for assistance!

Please make sure all ballet bows are tucked inside the dancers' shoes.  If you have black tap shoes with elastic, the black ribbons are permitted to be worn with your costume, but are not required.
